John Mayer.
The reason for my screen name. Sure, maybe he's sort of fugly and I honestly wasn't this much in love with him until he
released Continuum and began to resemble Edward Scissorhands, but I love him, darn it. I even like his relationship with Jessica Simpson. He's got
a great blog that he keeps regularly and he's great not just because of his music but because of how he is outside of his music. It'll never be enough,
John Mayer.
The Killers.
My favorite band. Read My Mind is my favorite song right now. My favorite video of the moment too. There's rarely a band that comes
along that I can play a whole CD through and not want to skip any tracks. The Fray almost made it here because they're just barely my second favorite, but I
have extra affection for The Killers. Blame Brandon Flowers with his weird jerking in music videos, awkwardness during interviews, and keyboard playing.
Britney Spears.
You know, she's probably a little nuts. But at least she's open about it. She's been my favorite female artist since I
was probably fifteen and I'll be a fan for life. There's nobody quite like her, even if you hate her you have to agree. She's just one of those
that you know is going to be interesting when she's on TV during an interview, when she's dancing on stage, when she's coming out with a new album,
she's always doing something to make you watch. She's just the best. Even at her worst. She'll be back.
Eminem.
Yeah, he's a little nuts too. My favorite rapper, alongside DMX and Jay Z. There's nobody really like Eminem either. Not
just because he's white, but for his dramatics. As an artist, and as a person. I've been hooked on him since around the same time as Britney and even
though he's been faltering lately in music, he's awesome and he'll go down in history as one of the best for what he is. He'll be back too, a
new record in November. I'll be waiting in line like a Stan for a copy the day it comes out.
Jesus of Suburbia.
It's probably weird I'm including this, but I'm a big fan of music videos and very few are any good anymore. Green Day
still does awesome freaking videos and this one is probably one of the best in a long time. It's my journal mood theme, I love the song, I still play the
video too much. It's much like life of someone struggling to get out of a small town. Which I can relate to. And Lou Pucci with Kelli Garner were great in
the video.
Ryan Gosling.
My favorite actor and one of the most true actors out there. As someone trying to be a screenwriter and an actress, I have a lot of different
people in the business that I look up to for influence. He's the tops. It's just great to see someone so serious about their work and careful about the
projects they take on. I wasn't a huge fan of The Notebook, if he wasn't in it I wouldn't have even watched it. The Believer was
his best movie. Stay and Murder By Numbers were close behind. There's something great about every movie he's done so far and I just
can't say enough good things about him as an actor.
Michael Pitt.
Oddly enough, he's one of my other top favorite actors. He started out in Dawson's Creek to get by, which he hated.
That's where I saw him first, until I watched Murder By Numbers with Ryan Gosling. Then I was hooked. He played a quiet Kurt Cobain in the final
movie in Gus Van Sant's death trilogy, he was beautiful and skilled in The Dreamers, he was a bright spot in Bully. It's just amazing
to see actors really trying to make good movies. I have a ton of favorite actors and a few favorite actresses but these two have just an extra sort of
something that I really respect and look up to.
Eternal Sunshine.
My favorite movie. The reason for my myspace name. I love when actors mainly known for their comedy do serious movies. Jim Carrey
with Kate Winslet. This one is unmissable. Every scene is perfect. It's futuristic. It's relatable. It's sad and beautiful. It's really unlike
any other movie you've ever seen. I've seen hundreds of movies, I have hundreds of favorites, but this one is just at the top of the list. Great
acting. Lines you'll remember forever. Scenes you'll never forget. See it, if you haven't.
The Illusionist.
A new favorite of mine. Some people had problems with it, but some people overthink movies that are just supposed to be watched and
felt. This movie was beautiful and connected. A love story with more to it, magical and underrated. I don't know how to describe it without giving too much
away but it's definitely one for your collection. Great acting, amazing ideas, and surprising over and over again. See it!
Kurt Hasley.
An awesome artist that I can't get enough of. Beautiful imagery with interesting messages. This is my cell phone wallpaper right
now. Google him, if you're not familiar.
The Giver.
It's been my favorite book since I was forced to read it in Junior High. I think there's a bunch of movies still being made right this
second that's been inspired by the ideas Lois Lowry had in this book. It's eerie. It's inspiring. It's the best. It's just in it's own
league.
The Office.
The love of my life. The best TV show ever. Honestly, how can you not love Michael Scott and his knack for saying the wrong thing at
the wrong time just about every second of his life? And how can you not adore Dwight Schrute and his unbelievable ability to blow everything completely out of
proportion? How do you keep from sniffling every time Pam and Jim splinter in their quiet love for each other? The episodes just keep getting better and
I'm not sure there's much in this world that makes me as freakin' happy as this TV show. And let me also add that I'd knock Kelly out and take
Ryan from her in a split second if given the chance. Marry me, BJ! Let's start a fire!
